Why well managed projects fail and what to do about it: a workshop
The risk of information system project failure has been estimated well in excess of 50%, in spite of the major causes of failure having been documented for years. This failure, by any definition, occurs even where industry standard methodologies, formal governance, and experienced project consultancies dominate project environments.
To help understand the dynamics leading to failure, I have developed a workshop based on simulation vignettes. Workshop participants make project related decisions from perspectives of the many stakeholders to a project. For example, vignettes reflect the often conflicting interests within a single stakeholder group and can create damaging effects for the project.
An appreciation of the negative dynamics of information systems projects and how best to manage these, are the principal outcomes of the workshop.
The workshop is designed for all stakeholders of a project. There are no prerequisites. It can be conducted on your site or mine (Melbourne Australia) usually over one day.
