It is often difficult to know whether a young person’s behaviour is ‘just a phase’ of something that may be more concerning. There can be many signs that may or may not signal current or future issues.
Mental Health First Aid equips adults with practical tools and knowledge to identify and support young people who may be experiencing mental health difficulties.
We teach how to recognise key warning signs and symptoms—changes in behaviour, mood swings, weight or appetite changes, social withdrawal, and other potential signs of distress. With this awareness, trained adults are able to calmly guide young people toward appropriate professional help and other supports.
The training is grounded in leading national and international research and proven practice, ensuring up-to-date, evidence-based skills for supporting youth mental health. This course is recognised by Suicide Prevention Australia as a safe, high-quality and effective suicide prevention program.
The training has four modules that are presented over two days face-to-face, or in different combinations including online to accommodate participants.
